Delphine Dénéréaz

Delphine Dénéréaz (born in 1989) lives and works in Villedieu, in the Vaucluse region.

She is an artist in residence at Atelier Vé (Marseille) and co-founder of the Monstera collective alongside Bridget Low, Léna Gayaud and Opale Mirman.

Delphine Dénéréaz grew up in a rural setting. After graduating in textile design from La Cambre, she turned to fibre art, taking up lirette, a traditional rag-weaving technique dating back to the Middle Ages. Adapting this method to metal or wooden supports, she moves beyond the constraints of the loom and frees tapestry from a strictly decorative role. At the threshold between craft and magic, her intensely colourful works draw on ancestral knowledge and folk traditions. What is ordinarily relegated to the margins and the domestic sphere invades the symbols of late capitalism.

Since 2017, her work has been presented at Villa Noailles (Hyères, Toulon), Friche Belle de Mai, La Traverse and Festival Marsatac (Marseille), Le Consulat (Paris), Galerie Slika (Lyon) and the Fenaa Al Awwal cultural centre in Saudi Arabia. Since 2020, she has been invited to take part in several residencies, notably in France, Chile and Nigeria. Recent solo exhibitions include presentations at Collection Lambert (2023), La Halle Centre d’Art, Chapelle XIV in Paris and Les Abattoirs in Toulouse (2025).
