Amélie Bigard

Biography

Amélie Bigard (born in 1997 in Lyon, France) lives and works in Paris.

A graduate of the fine arts schools of Paris-Cergy and Marseille, she works across painting and artistic installations. Thanks to the egg tempera technique, her world unfolds on a single level, with its depth emerging from the figures who inhabit her spaces. A young audience finds refuge here, surrounded by objects and echoes of childhood. Her works become transitional altars, poised between finding one’s bearings and losing them, between vulnerability and self-assertion, between unease and repair. While bodies and architectures lend themselves to solitude, beyond the frame, our capacity for empathy, solidarity and shared understanding is called into question.

Her work has been exhibited at numerous institutions, galleries and art fairs in France and internationally, including Perrotin (Paris), Bradley Ertaskiran (Montreal), PACT (Paris), Studiolo (Milan), Fondation Pernod Ricard (Paris), Art Brussels (Brussels) and NADA (New York). In 2023, she received the Prix Émergence, awarded by the Association for the French art international broadcasting (ADIAF), and was a finalist for the Prix des Amis du Palais de Tokyo.
